Petr Krejčí is a documentary filmmaker dedicated to exploring the intricate relationship between humanity, technology, and the natural world. A graduate of the Film and TV School of the Academy of Performing Arts in Prague (FAMU), Petr is a constant and inquisitive observer, inspired by works of directors Errol Morris and Abbas Kiarostami. Petr's debut feature-length documentary, Forested Future, explores the questions of sustainability and stewardship of hardwood forests in the eastern USA, uniting his long-standing interests in ecology and narrative.

Fred Pearce

WRITER
ENVIRONMENTAL JOURNALIST

Fred Pearce is a London-based freelance environment journalist, reporting on global issues from more than 80 countries over more than 40 years. Former news editor and environment consultant at New Scientist magazine, and contributor to The Guardian, the Telegraph, the Washington Post and many other newspapers and magazines, he currently writes regularly online for Yale environment360. His many books include When The Rivers Run Dry, A Trillion Trees, The New Wild, The Landgrabbers and Confessions of an Ecosinner. They have been translated into 27 languages. He has been voted UK Environment Journalist of the Year and won a lifetime achievement award from the Association of British Science Writers. Despite It All (the title of his next book), he remains an optimist. “We can have a Good Anthropocene,” he says.

Karolína Čejková

EDITOR

Karolína Čejková is a film and video editor, holding a Master's degree from the Editing Department at FAMU (Film and TV School of the Academy of Performing Arts in Prague). She specialises in developing projects from initial concept to final audiovisual form, with a passion for shaping compelling narratives through precise storytelling and editing. Her diverse portfolio includes short films, documentaries, and music videos. Notable works feature the film La Reine (2023), Found by the One She Seeks (2022), and the documentary feature Forested Future (2025).

CINEMATOGRAPHER

Šimon Dvořáček is a FAMU-trained cinematographer known for his strong visual style. He gained early acclaim for Reconstruction (Locarno, EFA nomination) and Figurant (SXSW, multi-award winner). His documentary credits include The Sound Is Innocent (Visions du Réel), Every Single Minute (KVIFF, Jury Prize), Art Talent Show (KVIFF, Proxima winner), and The Investigator (IDFF Ji.hlava). In fiction, he shot She Came at Night (KVIFF, Czech Film Critics’ Award, Czech Lion nominee) and Calm in the Canopy (Pingyao IFF). In 2024, he completed the series No Big Deal and is now working with Adela Komrzy on a hybrid film set in an employment office. His work regularly screens at major festivals and is noted for its cinematic precision and atmospheric depth.

SOUND DESIGN & MUSIC

Dominik Dolejší is an award-winning sound designer and composer, working across documentary and fiction films. His work on FREM (2019) earned him a Czech Lion nomination for Best Sound, and he won Best Sound at FAMUfest for Central Bus Station (2018). His notable projects include The Investigator (2022), Music is My Handicap (2019), When the War Comes (2018), and Czech Allah (2017). In 2024, he contributed both music and sound design to the documentary The Fifth Level. His work is defined by precise sound design that enhances narrative and atmosphere.

PRODUCER

David Venables is a leading advocate for sustainable design and European Director of the American Hardwood Export Council (AHEC). For over 30 years, he has championed the creative use of wood in architecture and design, collaborating with renowned figures like Amanda Levete, Thomas Heatherwick, and Alison Brooks. His landmark projects—Timber Wave, The Smile, MultiPly, and Vert—have redefined how we think about hardwoods and sustainability. As producer of Forested Future, David brings his deep knowledge of timber and passion for storytelling to highlight the vital connection between design, forestry, and a regenerative future.

PRODUCER

Karolína Dvorská Fránková is a producer and co-founder of Films & Chips. She produced The Last Show and Everything Will Be OK Again (Prague Shorts 2023; Mill Valley FF) and is developing Homeland, the debut feature by Marek Čermák. With Myro Klochko, she’s preparing Letters to the Future (KVIFF Talents). She collaborated with Viktor Portel on The Investigator, Stories of the 20th Century, and Silent Heroism, and is producing his new documentary Among Us. She is also developing JENŮFA (dir. Tereza Tara), co-produces the animated short The Molepire (Animarkt, Rise & Shine, Anifilm, Film Talent Zlín winner), and the documentary Forested Future (dir. Petr Krejčí).

PRODUCER

Rocío Pérez-Íñigo is a producer of Forested Future and the Director of Communications for the American Hardwood Export Council (AHEC) in Europe. Since joining in 2015, Rocío has led AHEC’s communication and content strategy across European markets, driving international PR efforts. She has been key to successful collaborations like The Workshop of Dreams, Discovered, Vert and No. 1 Common, all promoting sustainable hardwoods and innovative timber design. With communications training across Spain, Italy, and the UK, Rocío has built a Europe-wide network of creative consultants. Together, they are pushing for material choices to become central to design, inspiring more sustainable architecture and design practices. Rocío also commissions projects showcasing the potential of U.S. hardwoods as sustainable and versatile materials. Before AHEC, she worked in communications within the fashion and creative industries, driven by a passion for storytelling.

PRODUCER

Ellen Powley is a producer of Forested Future and the Communications Manager for the American Hardwood Export Council (AHEC) in Europe. Having studied Graphic Communication Design, Ellen brings a creative perspective to AHEC’s communications by crafting impactful content across its online channels. With this, she has played a key role in transforming AHEC’s social media presence – delivering engaging, sustainability-focused and design-led content that drives audience growth and reinforces the position of American hardwoods as a leading material choice in the industry.

Since joining the team in 2021, Ellen has played a significant role in delivering AHEC’s dynamic programme of activities, including exhibitions at major design fairs, pavilions at international trade shows and press missions.

Lauren Smith

PRODUCER

Lauren Smith is a producer of Forested Future and a Communications Consultant working with the American Hardwood Export Council (AHEC) across their creative projects and environmental messaging. With over 10 years of marketing and communications experience, she has been intrinsic in AHEC projects such as MultiPly and Connected, devising creative communication strategies and crafting compelling stories about the abundant U.S. hardwood forests. Having witnessed the scale and diversity of the forests firsthand, she is an advocate for sustainable material choices within the design and architecture industries and restoring our symbiotic relationship with nature.
